What follows is a summary of the areas of law I practice and what sorts of real-life situations I can help you resolve.

PRACTICE AREAS

  • BUSINESS CONTRACTS – Just about every transaction – from buying a car to purchasing services – involves a contract.  One of the most important things you can do is make sure whatever you agree to is in writing with no loopholes that won’t be to your benefit.  We will be happy to provide you with a contract that’s done correctly and written in plain English.  We can also review a contract that someone else wants you to sign to make sure there’s no “gotcha” language and that it says what it is supposed to say.
  • REAL ESTATE CONTRACTS – Sometimes buyers and sellers of real estate prefer that the seller extend the credit to buy the property rather than having a mortgage lender.  We can write the contract or review one you already have before you sign it. We can also arrange for services like title searches and escrow if needed.
  • CREATE LLC, PARTNERSHIP OR CORPORATION – If you have a small business, it might be a good idea, for liability or tax reasons, to set up a LLC, Partnership, or Corporation.  We can look at your situation and help you decide whether any of those will fit your needs.  We can also do the necessary paperwork and instruct you how to keep the protection you are looking for.
  • AGREED DIVORCE or CUSTODY – Sometimes people just realize they don’t want to be married anymore and can disengage without a lot of conflict and anger.  We can provide you with the paperwork you will need to terminate the relationship and, if you have children, provide for parenting time with each parent.
  • BASIC ESTATE PLANNING – It’s not usually something we like to think about, but it’s very important just the same. We can provide you with basic estate planning tools like wills, living trusts, powers of attorney for healthcare and finances, and healthcare directives to make sure your wishes are honored regarding the medical care you want (and don’t want) should you become unable to speak for yourself.
  • EXECUTOR SERVICES FOR ESTATES – The death of a loved one is difficult in the best of circumstances.  Even if there is a will, most people who are named as the personal representative (executor) aren’t familiar with the deadlines and tasks that are required in order to settle an estate.  We are experienced at navigating through the all the required procedures and paperwork that will provide a sense of relief and closure to those who remain.  Our service ranges from taking over as executor to coaching the executor through the steps and procedures.
